People who have been taking calcium channel blocker drugs for high blood pressure have an increased number of receptor sites for corona virus.
The novel corona virus attaches to mucus membrane cells at the ACE2 site. This is also where vitamin D attaches, and hyper-calcifies the cell as a stimulant. This is the same way a nerve cell to the smooth muscles of the heart over stimulate and cause high blood pressure. We take Vitamin D Receptor inhibitors (VDR inhibitors). Or we are prescribed a calcium channel blocker which attaches to the ACE1 receptor. People who take high blood pressure medications of the calcium channel blocker type have cells that increase the ACE2 receptor site which is where corona virus attaches. There are more than 30 variations and brand names.
Could another high blood pressure drug reduce the risk of corona virus disease?
ACE2 - Angiotensive Converting Enzyme 2, converts the receptor for calcium into one that receives vitamin D.
All people have ACE1 but some develop more enzymes to convert this to ACE2 type. Those with more ACE2 type receptors appear to be more vulnerable to novel corona virus.
Let me see if I can sort out some of this for you.
The cells have receptors for stimulation. This is the same way that we stimulate a cell for taste, temperature, light, sounds and smells. There are three main ones: sodium, potassium and calcium. Viruses stimulate the cell to grow in the same way we stimulate cells.
Some atoms are fast to signal and others are slow.
Cells need to be turned on and off. Some very quickly such as vision. Some are moderately fast such as taste where we have a longer sense of the taste, or after taste of a spice or herb, sweet and sour. Some need to be very slow, the menstrual cycle, digestion, breathing and heart beats.
The tree main atoms to turn the cell activity on and off are:
- Sodium
- Potassium
- Calcium
Size and wieght play a factor, messured in physics as molecular weight.
All three can conduce electrons, or electricity to signal a stimulation. This also is how we stimulate growth as in growing up, growing bones, growing muscles, growing hair. Atoms that conduct electricity are termed, 'metals'. Our body is 97% non-metals or insulators of electricity. The normal body has 96.5% non-metals that insulate electron activities. We have about 3.5% body weight in minerals and this includes iron for hemoglobin, iodine for thyroid and calcium for bones. Calcium is a co-factor in arterial plaque, dental plaque, brain lesions [dementia] and old age related diseases. The thyroid works to keep the calcium from accumulating in the inner ears [balance] and brain [memory loss]. We tend to binge on calcium since the invention of television and Internet.
Key metals in cell electron stimulation.
Cell Stimulating Atom | Molecular weight | Potential of stimulation | Duration of stimulation |
Sodium, Na | 22.990 - lite weight | High - nimble, fast | Short [vision, hearing] |
Potassium, K | 30.098 - middle weight | Medium - moderate | Medium [blood pressure] |
Calcium, Ca | 40.078 - heavy weight | Low - sluggish, durable | Long [heart beat, digestion] |
Example: We go to a music concert and after hours of loud sound. Stimulation is high and includes all three; Na, K and Ca. After the concert there is a lot of extra of these atoms in the tight confines of the inner ear where we sense sounds. Sodium will suspend in water as an ion, Potassium can when bound to a common nitrogen, calcium needs an oily substrate to mobilize such as the oil soluble vitamin D. By the next day our inner ear has cleared out the sodium and potassium but not the more sticky calcium. This extra calcium makes it hard to hear the next day. Calcium is more durable, longer lasting and interferes with healing or repair. Same with the flu and respiratory distress.
Table salt with sodium hardly affects blood pressure, and can actually reduce back pressure because salt water flows more easily through arteries.
Table salt is a rock when dry. To make it flow in a powder state we add things to do this. There are a few different types of additive but the more common one is based on calcium. This additive is what actually causes high blood pressure as does all calcium. We have become brain washed to think that salt increases blood pressure when the opposite is true and the additives to salt are the cause of the problems, as are all calcium supplements to give us high blood pressure and an increased risk for respiratory diseases such as corona virus.

Metals conduct electricity [electrons] and distance affects the speed of cell signaling.
Sodium is very nimble and fast. Highly used for thinking, vision and hearing with short nerve length. Quick on and quick off.
Potassium is moderately fast and affects the 'tone' of our arteries.
Calcium is sluggish, heavy and slow to clear after the stimulation winch can be an irritation. Calcium accumulates in oils such as lipids and forms rock hard arterial plaque along with cardio-vascular disease.
Breathing, heart beat, digestion are slow activities relying on calcium.
Thinking, seeing or hearing, are fast activities relying on sodium
Short nerves, fast response, eyes, ears tongue (speech), near to the brain, quick on, quick off, sodium stimulation.
Our nerves if placed end to end would be long enough to wrap around the earth twice.
All nerve stimulation receptors rely on a combination of sodium, potassium and calcium.

Ways to manipulate cellular stimulation.
Sodium channel blockers: anesthesia, pain medications
Sodium channel augmentation [agonist]: diuretic, tea, coffee, alcohol, herbal tea to loose water weight.
Sodium increases: eating more salt [sodium-chloride]
Potassium channel blockers:
Potassium channel augmentation [agonist]
Potassium in the diet: sun dried tomatoes, potatoes and very weakly -bananas.
Calcium channel blockers: direct inhibition of the receptor, blocking
Calcium channel augmentation:
Calcium in the diet:
-----below needs editing, may be confusing or inaccurate,
Enzyme activity inhibitors: indirect slowing of the activity of the site
Vitamin D receptor blocker: direct action on the receptor
Enzyme activity inhibitors to reduce the conversion of the ACE1 into an ACE2 receptor
ACE1 blockers are also called calcium channel blockers, a direct inhibition of the receptor site on the cell.
ACE2
ACE2 receptor manipulation converting enzyme drugs, vitamin D receptor inhibitor drugs, have receptor sites for corona virus more blocked, but not totally.
Covid-19 is 20 times more likely to bind to ACE2 than SARS.
There are around 40 variations of corona viruses. Most have been around a long time and just give us the common flu, cold, fever. These viruses attach to the more subtile receptor site based on the calcium channel. However, as the virus increasingly attaches to to the vitamin D receptor site it become more lethal. This is the novel corona virus with the more advanced ability to attach to the ACE2 receptor rather than ACE1.
