Calcium where is should not be

Calcifications in and around the heart, aortic arch and valve are key findings in heart disease. The thyroid attempts to keep these calcifications in bone, held by vitamin K, and out of soft tissue, held by vitamin D. The thyroid is boosted in this process with salmon oil supplements, inhibited by vitamin E blending (tocopherols).

Zinc at the heart is found to stop these calcifications in this recent study.

There are many different forms of zinc supplementations. Some actually make zinc stores lower.

Avoid: zinc-gluconate

Find: zinc-glycinate / zinc-bisglycinate (bis means 2).

Find: salmon oil without tocopherol / virtamin E.

Calcific aortic valve disease (CAVD) is the most common heart valve disease in the Western world. It has been reported that zinc is accumulated in calcified human aortic valves. However, whether zinc directly regulates CAVD is yet to be elucidated. The present study sought to determine the potential role of zinc in the pathogenesis of CAVD.

Together, these findings suggest that zinc is a novel inhibitor of CAVD, and report that zinc transporter ZIP13 and ZIP14 are important regulators of hVIC in vitro calcification and osteogenic differentiation. Zinc supplementation may offer a potential therapeutic strategy for CAVD.
